P.C.SO. Bownes informed the meeting that there have been a series of burglary to dwellings across the town; offences were being committed over night. Two offenders from the Earlsfield Estate have been arrested but have been released on bail. It is believed that there are two other teams active in the area, one possibly coming down from Newark to commit offences. Home’s with high value vehicles are being targeted. Within the past few days an intruder was disturbed at 12.45am.
Three people have been arrested stealing milk and have admitted offences over the past two years from across the various estates.
Thw tyre slashing incidents mentioned at the last meeting seem to have died down.
No further reports have been received from residents regarding excess speed by coaches picking up children from Central School therefore the panel agreed to close this task.
A confidential complaint received by the panel at the last meeting was dealt with by P.CSO Jacklin and the panel agreed that unless a further complaint was received then this can be closed.
The P.C.S.O team have continued to investigate reports of youths gathering and drinking at the back of the estate. No problems could be found, but it was decided to keep this task open until the next meeting.
P.C.SO. Taylor was unable to attend the meeting to update the panel regarding progress with the Joint Agency Group on the relocation of the bus shelter. It was decided to keep this task open.
P.C.SO. Bownes updated the panel with the progress he had made regarding a concern for a resident living in Kenilworth Road. Due to the confidential nature of this task, further details will not be published.
Councillor Selby informed the panel that he was requesting covert CCTV to be installed in Hobart Road and Hamilton Road as large numbers of youths are causing continual problems drinking alcohol and causing damage in this area. The panel formally requested the P.C.S.O. team to investigate whether this could be arranged.
Panel members highlighted complaints regarding the height of speed tables in Longcliffe Road and asked if they could be taken out. A discussion took place and the chairman will send a request to highways to see if they can investigate this complaint.
Mr & Mrs Burns informed the panel of the success in starting a residents association on the Manthorpe estate. Over 120 residents attended the first meeting and 11 people have volunteered to become committee members.
Mr Burns raised the issue of people being arrested in possession of an offensive weapon and that many forces were dealing with them by way of a caution. P.C.S.O Jacklin stated that he would look into the force policy and report back to the panel at the next meeting.
P.C.S.O. Bownes said that the Special Constabulary have been patrolling the estate carrying out radar checks on vehicles speed following complaints from residents. Further details will be given to the panel at the next meeting.
P.C.S.O. Bownes informed the panel that 8 off road bikes have been seized under Section 59, costing on average £105 for owners to collect them.
Also P.C Nettleton has been targeting disqualified drivers in the area of the Hills and Hollows.
There being no other business the meeting was closed.

Minutes of the meeting held on the 27th November 2007 were accepted as true record.
The Chairman informed the group that he had seen a briefing paper relating to the problems at the Railway Bridge. Solutions put forward include digging out the road under the bridge and also putting up Laser Beams to ward drivers of the restricted height.
The group discussed the suggestion published in the Journal Newspaper that an old steam roller should be positioned in the centre of the ADSA roundabout. The group were against this idea citing the possibility that this might encourage children to climb the steam roller.
Members were informed that Mark Heaton of the Highways Department
was invited to a planning meeting, no reply has been received.
The Chairman produced a map showing the planned junction improvements at London Road and Wharf Road. He stated that the main changes were moving the traffic lights back to allow HGV’s to negotiate the corner. Removal of the triangle for pedestrians at the top of St Catherine’s Road and improvements to allow pedestrians to cross in safety.
The group were critical that Highway’s had not gone ahead to introduce
two lanes in St Catherine’s Road to allow traffic to either turn left or go straight ahead. The Chairman also suggested that the stop line in Wharf Road on the right hand lane be moved back even further.
Members complained that a large number of HGV’s are having their wheels and tyres damaged by the new studs by ASDA roundabout. The suggestion was that three lanes on the approach to the roundabout from St Augustin Way is reduced to two. Zig Zag markings introduced which would enable drivers to have a better line to approach the railway bridge and avoid the studs.
Action
Chairman to contact Phil Oldfield, Highways Officer to arrange for site visit.
Comment was made by members that a number of Taxi drivers are waiting outside of the Taxi Rank zone causing traffic problems. Members suggested that the rank could be moved to the High Street near the Post Office where there is space to wait and nearer the town shopping centre.
Cllr. Cook invited the group to comment on a proposed building development at the rear of the Old Barracks opposite the Ambulance Station. The group studied the proposals and commented that the entrance to the site does not appear wide enough and could have an adverse effect on the Ambulance Station.
There being no other business the meeting was closed.
