At the last meeting of the executive Committee we all voted to establish a separate website for MANTRA. As co-editors of The Manthorpe News we will of course continue our support of MANTRA. After all we created it.

Planning Problems

Two members of Lodge Way phoned Counciller Wootten friday evening to say that the developers who had purchased 85 Manthorpe Rd were going demolish the premises. There is no Council cover over weekends. By dint of much effort Councillor Wootten got the Council Planning and enforcement officers of SKDC to stop this matter in its tracks. This exposes a gap in the Councils coverage of this type of event and needs addressing.

Update on planning decision in respect of 173 Manthorpe Road.

Mr Fisher has decided to appeal against his first application in respect of his request to build a four bedroomed house in the garden of 173 Manthorpe Rd.

As we understand it his grounds for appeal are twofold 1. The Planning Officers original decision was lawful and should be upheld. 2. A planning precedent had been set by the erection of a similar property on the corner of Sandcliffe and Manthorpe Roads.

A planning Inspector will be appointed from Bristol and a final decision will be made in July or August 2008
